A taxi driver booked for helping a blind passenger from his cab,has had his parking ticket cancelled.Council bosses told James Devine he doesn't have to stump up for the ticket which was slapped on his cab, while he escorted a blind passenger into Glasgow Dental Hospital on Sauchiehall street .The Evening times revealed earlier this month how Mr Devine appealed against the £30 parking ticket ,but parking chiefs refused to cancel the disputed fine. However after the Evening times intervened the council has reviewed the case and cancelled the ticket blaming an "oversight" for the initial decision.Glasgow cabbies are in discussions with council officals over new system to prevent cabbies falling foul in simliar circumstances.

oversight? no it wasn't that, no council can claim that. that's complete bs. it was pressure from the local paper. you have elections where you are on may fifth don't you?

Dobbin: pal, Scotland is not on a recently discovered planet ..the election IS for the next government, and Scotland is a staunch labour country,so we are not expecting miracles.

Goblin did say that the paper helped to encourage the council to change it's deciwsion, but it shouldn't have made the wrong decision in the first place. It was total stupidity, and it doesn't matter whether the drivers helping disabled people, old people or people with a lot of luggage, the treatment should be the same and they shouldn't get tickets.
